What is sound?
~ Sound is a mechanical wave with frequency and wavelength that can travel through the air by means of the vibration of air molecules.
What happens to the wavelength and frequency of sound waves when the source of the sound is at rest?
~ When the source of sound is at rest, the wavelength and frequency of the sound waves being produced will be constant.
What is the Doppler Effect?
~ The Doppler Effect is the change in the frequency of a wave as the result of relative motion between the wave source and the observer detecting the wave.
What happens when the source of a sound begins to move closer to the person hearing the sound?
~ As a sound source begins to move closer to the person hearing the sound, the frequency of the sound waves received by the listener increase as the source produces new sound waves while moving toward the previously produced waves.
